American company founded in the period of the Bauhaus, by Hans Knoll, a German furniture manufacturer who arrived in New York in 1938. A few years later he married the architect Florence Shust, known today to the world as Florence Knoll, his companion life and professional, with which he starts the production of a vast catalog of armchairs, tables, chaise-longues, chairs with a modern and functional design. The talents of Eero Saarinen, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe converge in the company vision. Florence is also interested in furnishing offices in a modern perspective and is a pioneer of a modern concept of living workspaces. Among the iconic pieces of the brand, the collection of round tables Knoll Platner, designed in 1966 by Warren Platner.
