Zanotta Edizioni was formed in 1989 as a special collection of furnishing items verging on art and design. Items in this collection are inspired by the Italian artistic handcrafting tradition. Free from the bonds of industrial production, they are charged with the powerful charm of “handmade” objects. Some of them repropose and recover techniques that have fallen into disuse (e.g. marquetry and pictorial decoration), while others are made with new experimental methods. Such objects must be chosen with the same care given to the choice of paintings, sculptures, carpets and antique furniture since, like the latter, they are meant to emotionally enhance the domestic environment. The small series limited number - in which they are produced increases their value in time. In 1991 the Zanotta Edizioni collection was awarded an honours acknowledgement in the framework of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Award for its “powerful cultural features”.
